Arsenal refused to come to Vietnam but Vietnamese fans of the Premier League will still have a chance to see some of its stars to play football in HCM City in June 2011.

In its latest announcement sent to local media agencies, an international friendly match called “Asian Dream Cup”, between “Park Ji Sung and friends” team, and Vietnam’s Navibank Saigon FC, will be held at 6 pm, June 15, at HCM City’s Thong Nhat Stadium.

According to schedule, Park Ji Sung and his team will arrive in HCM City on June 14. One day later, they will compete with Navibank Saigon FC to raise funds for young talented football players in Asia. This is the first activity of the charity foundation named after him – JS Foundation.

Korean football star Park Ju Sung’s friends may be: Patrick Evra (Manchester United), Lee Chung Yong (Bolton), Lee Young Pyp (Al-Hilal – Arab Saudi), Jung Jo Gook (AJ Auxerre – France), Jong Tae Se (Bochum – Germany) and Hidetoshi Nakata (former star of the Japanese football team).

This is good news for Vietnamese football fans after Arsenal refused the Vietnam Football Federation’s invitation to play friendly matches in Vietnam.

Employed by Manchester United since 2005 at the price of GBP4 million, Park Ji Sung has proved his talent and became the first Asian player who was used in a final game of the Champions League. A road in South Korea was named after him.

A Korean movie star and a Korean boy band will come to Vietnam to advertise for Park Ji Sung’s charity game in HCM City.

Actress Han Hye Jin, who is very familiar to Vietnamese audiences through “The Legend of Jumong”, will be the “Lady Festival” of the game, while the JYJ band (including Junsu, Jaejoong, Yoochun) will perform during the interval.
