Honoring traditional values

Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Director Nguyen Van Phong said that the department had advised the provincial party committee and people’s committee to organize activities in order to honor traditional cultural values and gradually improve Bac Ninh’s tourism image. This included an arts program focusing on Quan Ho Bac Ninh Folk Songs (Love Duets of Bac Ninh) organized on March 16. The program aimed at preserving and promoting the cultural values in Bac Ninh Province.

Bac Ninh Province has 547 traditional festivals. To perform successfully manage the festivals, Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has advised the provincial party committee and people’s committee to issue documents for this year’s festivals. In addition, the department has directed travel agencies to provide new tourist packages into operation, such as the Duong River tour and But Thap Pagoda-Phu Lang Pottery Village tour. To combine traditional tours with activities during this year’s National Tourism Year, the department has also directed relevant departments to adopt specific and practical activities in order to diversify tourism products for visitors. 

Renewing tourist destinations

Due to these characteristics Bac Ninh’s Quan Ho love duets, its world cultural heritages, spiritual culture, old architecture and traditional craft villages, Bac Ninh Province approved the overall tourism development plan in the 2011-2020 period to become one of the country’s largest cultural centers.

According to the overall tourism development plan, Bac Ninh Province would develop two main tourism areas. The first area includes Bac Ninh City-Tu Son-Ho Town with Bac Ninh acting as the province’s main tourism center while playing an important role to regulate tourism activities. The second area runs along the southern Duong River from Thuan Thanh District to Gia Binh District.

The second area along the southern Duong River with beautiful landscapes and cultural heritage sites such as Thien Thai Mountain, Dai Bi Pagoda and Cao Lo Vuong Temple, will play an important role to develop tourism in the province. In particular, this area still preserves typical cultural values of Vietnamese traditional craft villages.

Bac Ninh will provide seven tours in the province and three interprovincial tours, including Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Hai Duong-Quang Ninh; Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Bac Giang-Lang Son; and Hanoi-Bac Ninh-Quang Ninh-Hai Phong.

Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has had significant contributionsin the implementation of the overall tourism development plan in the 2011-2020 period in order to closely associate the preservation of traditional cultural heritage with tourism development. These positive changes have contributed to turning tourism into an important economic sector and Bac Ninh into a modern city in the near future.
