Col. Sansern also said that soldiers are ready to give support to police if they are requested, if political tension turns into violence.

The Thai Army will not let any clashes happen, he said.

The clashes between police and anti-government supporters on Oct. 7 in Bangkok left two people killed and more than 400 injured. A grenade attack against the anti-government People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protest site in Bangkok’s Makhawan Rangsan Bridge on Thursday wounded six people.

Meanwhile, local media reported that hundreds of the United Front of Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) supporters were planning to travel to Bangkok on Friday to join the pro-government rally.

They are heading to Bangkok to gather at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium on Saturday, as ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra will be making a phone call to a political talk show Kwan Jing Wan Nee ( The Truth Today). His call will be aired at the stadium.
