U.S. Democrat Barack Obama has won the 2008 presidential election, CNN reported Wednesday, setting him up to become the 44th president of the United States and the first African-American to hold the nation’s highest office.

Prior to that, local media reported that Barack Obama was sure to win the US Presidential Election after winning Virginia’s 13 votes.
