Seventy-seven people have been killed and 102 others gone missing after a dam collapsed on Fridayin an outskirt city of Jakarta, Head of crisis center of Health Ministry Rustam Pakaya told Xinhua on Saturday.

The dam burst caused flooding and swept away eight houses and damaged 300 others as well as submerged over 700 buildings, he said.

Among the damaged buildings were school and mosque, said Pakaya.

“The fatality is expected to rise, as there are many people still unfound,” he said.

More than 700 residence had to fled their home and lived in shelters or other buildings, said Pakaya.

A dam of Situ Gintung in the outskirts of Jakarta burst on Friday caused by overflow of water after a heavy rain.
