Anti-NATO demonstrators set fire to hotel in Strasbourg

Protesters against the two-day NATO summit in Strasbourg of France set a hotel in blaze near the Rhine River on Saturday.

Black Blocks, violent-prone people in black clothes, left the ground floor of the Ibis chain in flames.

Heavy and dark smoke and flames are seen to swallow the hotel. A tourist information office was also set on flame. Firefighters are trying to distinguish the fire.

There is no report of injuries or arrests.

Tens of thousands of protesters converged from across Europe to protest against NATO in Strasbourg, where 28 leaders from the alliance’s member states wrapped up their summit.

The summit was jointly hosted by Germany and France on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of NATO.

It was held under tight security as around 15,000 German police and 9,000 French police are on duty in the hosting cities.

As many as 25,000 to 40,000 protesters of all kinds, including anti-NATO and anti-globalization, came from across Europe, according to German and French authorities.
