At least 50 people were injured in a train collision on Saturday night near the Mexico City, local media reported.

The accident occurred on the recently inaugurated Suburban Railway in the State of Mexico, which borders Mexico City, a Mexican official was quoted as saying. A train stopped running due to malfunction, while a following train ran into it from the back.

Local officials said there were at least 50 injuries in the accident, with no death report so far. However, the AP reported that the injured were at least 70.

The injured are being treated at several local hospitals, the report said.
