America’s Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled a number of milk products after fears that some might be contaminated with salmonella.

“There are no illnesses that we are aware of,” said FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Kwisnek last week, adding that the agency was tracking products linked to the plant.

Several cooking manufacturers have announced that they are recalling nonfat dry milk, cocoa and other products that are linked to the Plainview, Minnesota milk processor.

While none of the products have been sold directly to the public, they may have been distributed to other manufacturers who used them in their own products, Kisnek said.

Amongst those recalling products is the Retailer Meijer Inc., CPI Foods Inc., Precision Foods Inc., NOW Foods and the McClancy Seasoning Company. The milk powder concerned is primarily for domestic consumption and it is not believed any products were exported.

Salmonella can cause serious infections, especially in children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
