Uribe developed symptoms of the H1N1 flu on Friday after coming back from Argentina for the summit of South American countries. He had accepted medical inspection and was under treatment.

“The president developed symptoms of this disease, the progress is positive at present,” Palacio added. Palacio affirmed that Uribe continues acting his duties normally as president despite the medical treatment and his voluntary quarantine.

“We government officials are in contact with the president. I received three minutes ago the latest information about his condition, and we were told that he is totally in peace at present,” Palacio said.

There have been 621 confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu in Colombia, he said.
