At a joint press conference held after their meeting, Yushchenko said there is no any problems in the relationship between Ukraine and Georgia. Both sides are willing to strengthen mutual cooperation in various fields.

“Ukraine supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” added he, stressing that Ukraine did not recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states.

Yushchenko urged the European Commission to financially support the project of the Eurasian oil transportation corridor, calling for Eastern Partnership members to work together on this issue.

He said the two countries have agreed to open a sea route between Kerch, the Ukrainian southeastern port, and Poti, the Georgian western port, as soon as possible.

Saakashvili in turn thanked Ukraine for its support and assistance. He said Georgia is willing to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in political, economic, cultural and other fields.

Saakashvili arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day working visit to Ukraine.
