Tamiflu, the drug known widely in the world as the main medicine to cure the A/H1N1 flu, has limits in preventing people from getting the flu.

The new study found although Tamiflu cuts the symptoms’ duration by about a day, however, there is no clear proof that it can prevent the unfavorable evolution of the diseases.

Research also questioned the validity of the previous studies from Roche, the pharmaceutical giant which produces Tamiflu, by claiming that they were unable to unconditionally provide the information needed to prove how well Tamiflu worked in preventing flu symptoms.

Many countries in the world have already spent loads of money on the drug that the scientific community now finds itself unable to judge.

By December, the World Health Organization had reported 96 out of the over 10,000 samples of the 2009 H1N1 flu cases tested worldwide showing resistance to Tamiflu.
