Sarah Palin is said to have been close to a deal for her travelogue reality show

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin waves to well-wishers while serving hot dogs at the annual Governor’s Picnic in Fairbanks, Alaska, July 26, 2009

According to the Reporter, the Discovery Channel has beaten out A&E for the privilege of airing the travelogue. An agreement could be announced in the next few days.

Titled “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” producers began pitching the series earlier this month, billing it as a show about Alaska seen through Palin’s eyes. It will be shot in the style of Discovery’s “Planet Earth,” showcasing the state’s natural beauty.

Though no details on how much Palin is getting paid to be in the show, she was reportedly seeking a whopping 1.2 million U.S. dollars per episode, making it the most expensive nature series ever produced.

The former Alaska governor has been busy on TV in recent months, and reportedly been working on her new book, which is about “celebration of American virtues and strengths.”
