Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjejiva has accepted to negotiate with four anti-government core leaders, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Satit Wongnongtaey said Sunday.

The negotiation between Thailand’s Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and three anti-government core leaders has started Sunday afternoon in capital Bangkok and is broadcast live on state TV.

The negotiation, which takes place at King Prajadhipok’s Institute from 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, is still going on and is broadcast live on state-run NBT Television.

The talk is attended by the prime minister, his secretary- general Korbsak Sabhavasu and ruling Democrat Party Deputy Secretary-general Chamni Sakdiset from the government side, as well as three leaders of Veera Musikapong, Jatuporn Prompan and Weng Thojirakarn from the red-shirt side.

Prime Minister Abhisit told the three red-shirted leaders that he has doubted if a House dissolution could really solve all the country’s political problems.

The prime minister’s statement was made after Veera said the red-shirted group has viewed that the House dissolution is the solution to the country’s political conflict.

Veera, as the chief negotiator of the red shirts, explained to Abhisit that if the House is dissolved and a new general election is held, it will be a referendum as to whether the country’s charter should be amended.

Veera has insisted that election candidates ask the general people as the voters of the new election whether they support charter amendment or not, hence the new election would be like a referendum.

The red-shirted chief negotiator was responding to Abhisit’s inquiry how the House dissolution will be able to end the country’ s political conflicts.
