VietNamNet Bridge – A representative of Hanoi Telecom has said that HT Mobile network will resume its services before the lunar New Year.

HT Mobile is urgently finishing tasks to resume mobile services based on GSM technology. It is installing new base transceiver stations to reach 5,000 stations by early October. Recently it spent more than $600 million to buy equipment from Ericsson (Sweden) and Huawei (China).

HT Mobile previously used CDMA technology like S-Fone. In late 2007, it asked for the government’s permission to change to GSM technology like Viettel, MobiFone and VinaPhone.

In late January 2008, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved HT Mobile’s petition. On March 15 the network got a licence to implement e-GSM technology.

While it is changing technology, HT Mobile has “consigned” 200,000 subscribers to S-Fone.
