VietNamNet Bridge – The Thi Vai River has been being poisoned for 14 years, but nobody has known about it. The menace threatening this river is not only in Dong Nai province.

At the 3rd session of the Committee for the Protection of the Environment of Cau River Valley in northern Vinh Phuc province on September 29, reports revealed that provinces along the Cau River have been discharging waste into the river for several years.

Around 800 production units, mainly involved in mining and ore sifting, are discharging waste water into the Cau River. In addition, around 200 craft villages of all kinds in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces directly discharge waste water into this river.

According to scientists and management agencies, the Cau River basin is degrading and is seriously polluted.

At the meeting, officials of provinces the Cau River passes through agreed to take drastic measures to deal with the pollution of the river.

In Hanoi, many rivers are going to die. At the 14th session of the Hanoi People’s Council, many people called for help for the capital’s rivers.

Among polluted rivers in the capital city are Thien Duc (6,090m), Cu Bay (12,064m), Lu, Kim Nguu and Pheo. Local authorities are trying to save these rivers.
