Intel Vietnam General Director Than Trong Phuc introduced Core i7 in HCM City on November 26.

VietNamNet Bridge – The microprocessor which is said to be fastest in the world was launched in Vietnam on Tuesday but it is out of the price range of most Vietnamese users.

Core i7 is considered the fastest microprocessor at this moment. It is manufactured based on 45nm technology so it can save a tremendous amount of power. It also uses Intel Turbo Boost technology to reach a high processing speed.

Core i7 is the dream of computer users, but its prices are still very high, around $320 for Core i7 920 and over $600 for Core i7 940. To use Corei7, users will have to buy other accessories like a mainboard, ram, hard-disk, screen card, etc., which cost over $1,400, according to Pham Anh Duong, Intel Vietnam’s marketing manager.

Some technicians and masters of some online IT forums like VOZ, AMTECH say users should wait for 3-6 months to buy this microprocessor. In addition, if users don’t run big-sized applications, they should not upgrade their computers to Core i7 because popular microprocessors can satisfy their requirements.

Nguyen Thai Hoa, an experienced IT expert in HCM City, said: “Core i7 is a strong and fast microprocessor but a small number of users in Vietnam can have it. It is simply that the price of Core i7 and its accessories are too expensive. Many Vietnamese computer users are using Pentium II, Pentium III. Several users have Pentium IV. It is difficult for them to upgrade their computers to Core 2 Due, let alone Core i7”.
