The conference, the largest of its kind, will draw the participation of more than 10,000 delegates representing 192 parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, 183 parties of Kyoto Protocol and many international and non-governmental organisations.

Delegates will examine progress in climate change mitigation in 2008 and draw up a plan of action for 2009, paving the way for a new agreement to be reached to replace the Kyoto Protocol at the 15th conference scheduled for Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009.

During the event, environmental ministers will meet to discuss a long-term cooperation plan on climate change, with a focus on transferring technology, building a financial mechanism, supporting developing nations in adapting to global warming, promoting green development and reducing green-house gas emissions.

While staying in Poland, Mr Nhan will meet with Polish leaders, visit several universities and have a talk with the Vietnamese community there.
