VietNamNet Bridge – The website www.yoosk.vn/ukvn was officially launched on Tuesday as a bridge of information between Vietnam and famous people in the UK.

The site is sponsored by the UK Embassy in Vietnam and the UK Department of International Development (DFID). The Vietnamese partner of Yoosk is VietNamNet newspaper (http://tuanvietnam.net). Yoosk and VietNamNet will help convey questions of Vietnamese readers to celebrities in the UK.

Yoosk has used this form of exchange for over one year in the UK, which offers the British people a change to directly question famous people like the coach of Blackburn Rovers – Paul Ince, the UK Foreign Minister David Miliband, and the Mayor of London – Ken Livingstone.

Former Director of the British Council in Hanoi, Tim Hood, and documentary film producer Keith Halstead, who is living in Hanoi, created this website.

According to Tim Hood, Yoosk is created as a direct dialogue channel with politicians, leaders and celebrities in the UK and the people like this form of exchange very much.

The UK Ambassador to Vietnam Mark Kent said he loves Internet-based applications like blogs, Flickr and Youtube. He hoped that Yoosk would be a strange and good thing to tighten the relations with Vietnamese people through the use of means of interactive media.

The program will run for 8-10 weeks, with hot topics like the economy in the context of the global financial crisis, climate change, the Premier League, investment and trade, and issues emerging in the corruption fighting process.

Famous people in the UK will be invited to answer Vietnamese people’s questions about the above topics. Readers can vote for the best answers.
