Students ’journey to save the tiger’
Published: 16/12/2008 05:00
VietNamNet Bridge – Animal loving students in Viet Nam have been given the opportunity to win a once in a lifetime trip to Safari Singapore by the WWF. The organisation’s Greater Mekong project is calling on contestants to craft a fund-raising proposal
The competition is about reducing consumption of wildlife products in Ha Noi and is part of the Viet Nam campaign, a partnership between WWF Greater Mekong and TRAFFIC South East Asia. The Danish International Development Agency is providing funding. Limited budgets have stymied conservation initiatives in Viet Nam. This fund-raising contest is aiming to change that by empowering students through education. Students will get a unique opportunity to learn about ways to make practical contributions to the conservation of wildlife in their country. In the first round of the competition, the contestants will submit a detailed fund-raising proposal. Submissions should be creative and practical. Most importantly, they should be designed to grab the attention of potential donors. After the top five visit Cuc Phuong, they will present their proposals to a panel of judges. Up to three of the presenters will be chosen for the trip to Singapore Safari. A WWF expert will guide the winners on the inspirational trip. The deadline for proposal submissions is January 25 next year. Participants should be aware that the rescue centre is hypothetical, and fund-raising proposals may or may not be used for other conservation initiatives.
