VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam ICT Awards 2008 will be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) under a memorandum of understanding signed on Thursday.

The MoIC and VCCI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the organization of this event in Hanoi on Thursday, under the witness of Minister Le Doan Hop and VCCI Chairman Vu Tien Loc.

Under the MoU, VCCI will represent the community of Vietnamese enterprises to cooperate with the organizing board of the Vietnam ICT Awards 2008 to hold the event effectively.

The Vietnam ICT Awards was launched recently and is the annual awards of the MoIC to encourage orient and assess the development of information and communication technology in Vietnam over the year.

Tran Duc Lai, deputy minister of MIC, and head of the organizing board of Viet Nam ICT Awards 2008, said: “The granting of the awards will be based on specific criteria which have been established overtly, objectively and logically. With these criteria, the awards aim to best recognize the contributions of organizations and enterprises in the development of Vietnam’s ICT industries.”

Lai said the organizers were preparing to conduct a poll to collect opinions and ideas from organizations, enterprises and experts in the ICT area and to obtain public comments on the evaluating criteria. He added ICT Awards were held on a non-profit principle.

The winners will be named in early 2009.
