Vietnam urged to pay more attention to information security

VietNamNet Bridge – The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has made public results of its survey on global state of information security in 2008, in which PwC suggesting that Vietnamese companies should pay more attention in the field.

Vietnamese enterprises need to have up-to-date security technologies which are supported by well-trained and skilled people.

One of the key findings of the survey is that Asian companies no longer trail North American organisations in establishing leading practices in information security.

Therefore, Vietnamese companies face very high regional benchmarks, PwC said in its statement in early December.

Henri Hoang, a director with the IT Security practice in the Ho Chi Minh office of PwC, said that in the IT security context in Vietnam, there has always been a great emphasis on the deployment of security-related technologies such as firewalls and anti-virus software.

However, as companies become more sophisticated with securities measures, so do the types of attacks. PwC said Vietnamese enterprises need to have up-to-date security technologies which are supported by well-trained and skilled people.

During the preparation of the survey, PwC asked more than 7,000 Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Security Officers, vice presidents and director of IT and information security from 119 countries.

PwC is the world’s biggest business advisory group, operating in 150 countries and territories. It established offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 1994.
