VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese engineers have won the gold medal at an international creativeness exhibition, in Seoul, South Korea, for their new-style of toilet tank.

In the past two years, hundreds of toilet tanks of this kind have been installed in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

The designer of this award-winning toilet tank is engineer Hoang Duc Thao and his co-workers from the Urban Water Drainage Company in the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

This toilet tank won the prize for its advantages in collecting, transferring and treating waste, as well as preventing pollution and erosion.

The production cost for such a toilet tank is equivalent to one-third of a normal toilet tank, while its lifespan is even longer. The time required for cleaning the tank is double that of normal ones, which is very convenient for houses in cities. This work also won the third prize of the Vietnam sci-tech creativeness award 2007, presented by the Union of Vietnam Science and Technology Associations.

The international exhibition in Seoul is a major world event and is held each two years, attracting nearly 500 sci-tech and businesses from 38 countries in the world.
