VietNamNet Bridge – As of January 1, 2009, the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) will apply a new charge policy for the around 10 million subscribers of its fixed phone service.

Accordingly, the new charge will be VND200/minute instead of the current charges of VND120, VND400 and VND700 per minute. The monthly subscription fees will fall from VND27,000 ($1.58) to VND20,000 ($1.17) per month.

According to VNPT’s announcement, the group will no longer use inner-provincial charges (for calls made between subscribers in different districts in the same province or city), but apply a common charge level of VND200/minute for subscribers in the same province or city as of January 1, 2009.

Under this new charge policy, the charges for calls made between subscribers in the same district will rise by around 66% but inner-provincial charges will fall by 50%-71.4%.
