VietNamNet Bridge - The new Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park has so far granted investment licences to 32 projects with a total registered capital of about US$700 million.

According to the parks’ management board, eight projects worth $275.4 million were licensed last year.

The board is now considering 27 other potential projects with investors worth $2.5 billion.

The Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park is a joint venture between Japan and Viet Nam. Japanese partners are responsible for the project’s planning scheme and drawing in investors.

It comes on the heels of the Viet Nam-Japan joint statement signed by the two Governments on October 19, 2006.

When completed, the park will be divided into four zones: Research and Development; Hi-tech Industry; Education and Training; and a software park. It is also expected to facilitate universities and many high-tech equipment plants. The plants will manufacture electronic and semi-conducting products, digital and bio technology products and telecommunication products.
