VietNamNet Bridge - According to Facebook’s statistics for the fourth quarter of 2008, posted on Techno/Marketer, one of the leading blogs on marketing, nearly 40,000 Vietnamese people are using Facebook.

Compared to the third quarter of 2008, the number of Vietnamese users of Facebook grew by 68%, an impressive number regarding the development of this famous social network in Vietnam.

However, Vietnam accounts for a modest number of the total Facebook users in the world, which numbered 138.6 million by the end of 2008.

The US takes the lead with around 42 million users, followed by the UK with nearly 15 million, then Canada, Turkey, France and Italy.

The increase of Vietnamese users of Facebook is seen as a threat to other social networks in Vietnam, particularly Yahoo! 360o.
