Lenovo introduces dual-screen workstation; Winning software to compete in Sweden; Nation lifts ban on domain name trading; Vinaphone to launch fixed-price global calls

Mobile phone service provider Vinaphone said it would soon launch a package giving users unlimited call time to 23 countries across the world at a fixed fee of VND299,000 (US$17) per month.

The company also unveiled a new package targeting low-income earners and students along with a promotional programme which cuts regional call charges by 43 per cent.

Vinaphone now boast 16 million subscribers, including 7.5 million new users in 2008.

Nation lifts ban on domain name trading

The Ministry of Information and Communications has issued a new circular guiding the management and use of the internet.

In the previous Circular 92/2003, the ministry banned the transfer, lease and trade of internet resources in any form, including domain names.

The new circular allows the trade of domain names as long as the process obeys the regulations on solving conflicts over.vn domain names.

Winning software to compete in Sweden

TheLastChance, one of four winners at the qualifying round of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM/ICPC) for the Asian region, is representing Viet Nam at the final in Stockholm, Sweden, from April 22-28.

The team includes three students from the Viet Nam National University’s College of Technology in Ha Noi.

The 33rd software programming contest drew the participation of 7,109 teams from 88 countries and territories around the world and 100 outstanding teams have been selected for the final.

Lenovo introduces dual-screen workstation

Lenovo said it has brought users to a new level of innovation and performance to mobile workstations with the introduction of the ThinkPad W700ds. The new product gives users prime screen real-estate as the first mobile workstation in the industry with two screens.

Lenovo balances design with complex engineering and performance to give users in digitally demanding fields the ultimate mobile workstation.
