VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations on January 13 presented awards to 16 Vietnamese researchers who won prizes at the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2008.

SIIF 2008, which took place from December 11-15, attracted nearly 500 research projects from 38 countries. Sixteen out of 18 Vietnamese projects were honoured at the fair, including six gold, five silver and five bronze medals.

The prize-winning submissions were selected from the National Technological Invention Competition by the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC).

In addition, Cu Chi bio-chemical fertilizer joint stock company received a medal from the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalisers for a research project to produce biological fertilizer.

SIIF debuted in 2004 and is organised in the Republic of Korea every two years. The competition is recognised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations.

Vietnam won two prizes in 2004 and five in 2006.
