VietNamNet Bridge – Japan’s Shikibo group has cooperated with the Vietnam Textile-garment Group (Vinatex) and CoMo Company to make anti-virus and anti-bacteria cloth in Vietnam.

Shikibo’s representative in Vietnam, Nguyen Huu Phuc, said they will use Flutect technology to produce special kinds of cloth to make protection costumes for health workers, patients, cattle, and poultry breeders against viruses and bacteria. The production cost for each square meter of cloth is around US $3.00.

This type of cloth will be produced in 2009. Shikibo presented more than 1,200 sets of blouses and trousers made of this kind of cloth to health workers at the HCM City Tropical Hospital and the Hanoi-based National Infectious and Tropical Disease Hospital.

Last year, the HCM City Pasteur Institute tested this kind of cloth. The tests showed that Flutect cloth is anti-bacterial and protects against such viruses and bacteria as tubeculosis, E.coli, Salmonella bacterium, and H5N1 virus.
