LookAtVietnam – The central city of Hue city and HCM City will take part in the annual international event, Earth Hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on March 28, 2009.

The event is initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and electrical appliances for one hour on the last Saturday of March each year to raise people’s awareness of climate change.

The HCM City Natural Resources and Environment Department has proposed switching off the public lighting system, decorative lights and advertising boards at major venues in central district 1, and encourage local people to register to join the programme. It has also suggested holding a meeting with the Vietnamese goodwill ambassador for Earth Hour and screening a film about the event.

So far, Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue and HCM City have announced to join this program.
