Vietnam cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES) to organise two important workshops on nuclear power in March.
Along with the construction of the nuclear power project for Vietnam, many preparatory activities were promoted, including specialised workshops.
On March 24, the Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission (VEAC), the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the IAEA joined hands to organise a workshop entitled “Infrastructure for developing nuclear power in Vietnam” in Hanoi.
At the workshop, experts from the IAEA presented landmarks in building infrastructure facilities for developing nuclear power, the IAEA’s technical assistance in terms of nuclear safety for Vietnam.
During the workshop, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Dinh Tien met with experts of the Technical Cooperation Division of the IAEA, led by Dr. Kamel.
At the meeting, Dr. Kamel shared experience in building and running nuclear power plants, in training human resources for nuclear power plants and ensuring safety for nuclear power projects.
On March 3, the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS0 and the JNES jointly hold a workshop on nuclear safety with the participation of many experts from leading Japanese nuclear power agencies, namely JNES, the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA), and the Japan Nuclear Technology Institute (JANTI).
Vietnamese and Japanese experts discussed nuclear safety measures in Vietnam. Japanese experts helped Vietnamese colleagues understand more about inspections, the prevention of incidents and compiling nuclear safety regulations.
