VietNamNet Bridge - In the eight years it has been in operation, Quang Trung Software Park in Ho Chi Minh City has recorded some impressive achievements.

It has attracted 104 technology companies, half of them foreign, and supplied skilled tech workers to IT firms in Ho Chi Minh City.

It houses six major IT training companies – India’s NIIT, Sai Gon Tech, SDE Centre, UK Brain Company, Hoa Sen College, and FPT Institute – that have more than 9,000 students at any given time.

Its official name is Quang Trung Software City.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has told the city People’s Committee to reward people and communities who helped the park develop in the last eight years and ordered the Quang Trung Software Development Company to draft strategies to develop the park.

He praised the establishment of Quang Trung Software City development as a judicious move by the Government and city administration to develop information technology and create facilities for software research and development.

To make it Vietnam’s leading IT hub, the Ministry of Information and Communication and city People’s Committee should help Quang Trung Software City set targets for 2010, 2015, and 2020, he said.

The targets should aim at continued improvement of infrastructure, attracting investment, and improving services and training, he said.

He told the company to build dormitories for trainees.
