VIFOTEC and WIPO 2008 prizes announced in Hanoi

The Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technological Creations (VIFOTEC) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced their prizes for outstanding students on April 13.

35 projects in six categories awarded the VIFOTEC prizes cover mechanics and automation; materials technology; information, electronics and telecommunication technology; applied biology, environmental protection and rational use of natural resources technology and energy saving and alternative energy technology.

The two first prizes were granted for Doctor Pham Hong Thanh and Engineer Le Tuan Minh & Co.

This was the first time through the Vietnam-Switzerland project on intellectual property, the Swiss government awarded group of students and individuals from different universities across the country. There were 18 students involved in nine research projects won the 2008 VIFOTEC first prize this time.

WIPO also grants four prizes in four categories to enterprises, that most effectively apply the intellectual property system in their businesses, the best projects, the best women authors and the best young creators.

The only enterprise to receive the WIPO prize this year is Tan Hiep Phat Group.
