LookAtVietnam – Vietnamese and foreign scientists have announced discoveries of three new species of frog and gecko in Vietnam.

The first is a new species of toad, named Ap-li-bai Leptolalax Applebyi Rowley & Cao, 2009, which was found in the tropical evergreen forest in a mountain in the Song Thanh Natural Reserve in the central province of Quang Nam.

This new toad species was discovered by Cao Tien Trung, a researcher from the Vinh Teacher Training University in Nghe An province and Jodi Rowley from the Australia Museum in Sydney.

This type of toad lives in evergreen forests at the height of 1300-1400 above sea level.

Another species of frog was recently unveiled in Ngoc Linh mountain in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. It is called Leptobrachium ngoclinhense.

It was discovered by a Russian scientist and was announced in the Russian Reptile and Amphibian Magazine.

Meanwhile, German, American and Vietnam scientists have made public one more new species of gecko in the southern province of Dong Nai. It was discovered in Chua Chan Mountain in Xuan Loc district, called Gekko russelltrainii NGO, M. BAUER, WOOD JR, L. GRISMER.

This is the eight species of gecko in Vietnam.
