WWF Fund Vietnam on November 2 granted the “Green office” certificate to some UK agencies in Vietnam.

The UK Embassy’s representative receives the certificate from the WWF Vietnam.

These agencies have successfully applied and developed environmental management plans, These regulate the reduction of electricity and paper use, the use of vehicles that consume polluting fuels and the organisation of training courses in measures to diminish impact on climate change.

The UK Ambassador to Vietnam, Mark Kent said the UK agencies in Vietnam decided to combat with global warming by starting from the smallest details.

Within three months, the embassy achieved remarkable results. By encouraging its staff to not print unnecessary documents and save paper by using both sides, the use of paper felt by 26 percent. Around 20 percent of plastic bags were replaced by reusable bags.

Meanwhile, DFID Vietnam saved 16 percent of electricity consumption through reminding its staff to turn off lights and electric equipment.

WWF Vietnam hopes embassies, government organisations, and businesses will follow their lead in the “Green Office” campaign.

There are five economic and governmental organisations in Vietnam have been granted with the “Green Office” certificate.
