Since then, he has become the “protector” of wild animals on the Hon Heo mount. Thanks to Lamarche’s protection, the number of doucs in this mountain has increased from 110 to 150.

In 2007, Lamarche sent photos and documents about the flock of doucs to Tilo Nadler, a Germany expert who is the director of the Primate Rescue Centre of the Cuc Phuong National Park. Experts were sent to Ninh Thuan and they defined that the doucs in Hon Heo mountain are black-shanked douc (Pygathrix nigripes), an endangered species.
