Enterprises that discharge untreated wastewater into the environment will face the revocation of their business license.

A new law has been issued to raise awareness about environmental protection among businesses and the public.

Under the regulation, organizations or individuals who breach environmental laws will receive a warning or be fined from VND100,000 to VND500 million. The law takes effect on March 1.

Enterprises that discharge untreated wastewater into the environment will be fined and could face the revocation of their business license until they can come up with an effective solution to improve their practices.

Business that import waste will face penalties of VND20-500 million and have their licenses revoked for 6 -12 months. Polluting factories, meanwhile, will face penalties such as having operations suspended until conduct improves, or they may be forced to move to a remote location.
