A cold front is moving towards Vietnam and it is expected to affect the northern region on January 6, according to the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Centre.

The front will hit north-eastern provinces and then spread quickly to north-central provinces the same day, says the centre.

It will bring rain to the northern region and cause the temperature to drop by 6-7oC to 13oC. Northern highlanders will feel the deep chill as the temperature is expected to hit a low of 6oC.

However, the cold snap is not strong enough to move further to the south. Southern and Central Highland provinces are forecast to experience a sunny week ahead with temperatures ranging between 16-32oC.
