Stream of Holy Fish

This fish was caught by a fisherman in Quynh Lap commune, Nghe An province on April 25. Rumors about the odd looking fish quickly spread through the countryside and hundreds of people flocked to Nghe An. This fish is around 30.5kg, 80cm long with odd shape never before seen in Vietnam

The fish was sold twice before it was owned by Thuy. The fish was kept frozen before Thuy donated it to the museum.

Trinh Xuan Son, the museum’s deputy director, said this species of fish has never appeared in Vietnam before and it is extremely rare. The fish was brought to the museum for research and experts still discussing how to best preserve the fish.

This species of fish is named in Vietnam’s Red Book.
