Most classrooms in Ho Chi Minh City do not have enough light, a recent survey by the city’s Energy Conservation Center has found.

Results of the survey, published at a recent conference in HCMC, said classrooms in 95 percent of schools in the city area are not bright enough due to mistakes in the lighting systems.

The most common mistake was the fixing of lights on the walls instead of the ceiling.

Low quality and improper use of lights, as well as the arrangement of desks affected the brightness in the classroom and the light available for each student, the center said.

Huynh Kim Tuoc, director of the center, said at the conference that low brightness in classroom would have increased the number of short-sighted children in the city.
