The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has announced a two-day conference and exhibition this fall focusing on green business solutions for Vietnam.

The GreenBiz 2011, co-organized by the Investment and Trade Promotion Center in Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will take place on September 15-16 at the White Palace Convention Center, EuroCham said in a statement Thursday.

“Vietnam is one of the countries most affected by climate change in the world: Climate change will not only affect the country’s natural eco-systems, but the economy and the entire population at large,” according to EuroCham’s statement.

The event, in its second year, will focus on sustainable cities, environmentally friendly technologies, green investments and sustainable strategies for transportation and manufacturing. It will encourage local companies in Vietnam to tackle energy issues and environmental challenges. Sponsors for the events include Shell, Siemens and Philips.

“GreenBiz 2011 will serve as a bridge for both Vietnamese and EU businesses to discuss strategies for Vietnam’s shift toward a greener, more sustainable low-carbon future,” said EuroCham chairman, Alain Cany.

Vietnamese government representatives at vice-minister level and higher will attend the conference along with European and Vietnamese experts from the industry and academia.

Head of the EU Delegation in Vietnam, Sean Doyle, said: “Vietnam desperately needs environmentally sustainable solutions. GreenBiz 2011 is a fine example of how this priority can be translated into practical action.”
